On September 19, 2025, ACPN and Vaughan Woodbridge Senior Activity Center successfully hosted the “Nourishing Connections to Combat Loneliness by Cooking” workshop, featuring hands-on activities to make mung bean cakes and pumpkin oat soup. This event, partially funded by the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program.

Ms. Qin thoughtfully prepared all the fresh ingredients and molds in advance and guided participants step by step through the process of creating beautiful and delicious mung bean cakes. The atmosphere was lively and engaging, with participants eagerly trying their hand at each step and enjoying the satisfaction of making their own healthy treats.
In addition to the cooking activity, Ms. Qin explained the nutritional benefits of pumpkin oat soup and shared practical tips for incorporating it into a balanced diet. Participants learned about the health-promoting properties of seasonal ingredients and discussed how simple dietary changes can support overall well-being. This workshop not only provided a fun culinary experience but also fostered connection and meaningful interaction among seniors, helping to ease loneliness and promote a sense of community.
