On September 6, 2025, the Association of Certified Professional Nutritionists (ACPN) joined hands with Xin Tian Di Senior Association, 11 senior associations, and many community organizations to host the Golden Autumn Gathering: Food, Music & Joy at Erindale Park C Area in Mississauga. This lively outdoor event, partially funded by the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program, brought together over 400 seniors and community members for a morning of connection, delicious food, and celebration. The aroma of fresh barbecue filled the park, while volunteers and organizers worked together to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere that encouraged conversation and new friendships.
To enrich the experience, the senior and community organizations presented a variety of cultural performances, including singing, dancing, and martial arts demonstrations, adding an artistic and festive atmosphere to the barbecue. Participants enjoyed both the food and the vibrant cultural showcase, making the event a beautiful blend of nourishment and entertainment. The combination of cooking, sharing meals, and celebrating culture helped strengthen community bonds and provided a meaningful way to combat loneliness and promote healthy aging.
